P'tit Basque is a sheep's milk cheese produced in France's Basque region in the Pyrenees Mountains. Traditionally handmade by shepherds from left over curds set aside from milking their ewes, this cheese is still made using the same methods applied by the local shepherds.
The semi-firm cheese is aged for a minimum of seventy days, during which it develops a distinct basket-weave pattern. A favourite of ours here at the shop, P’tit Basque has a distinctive aroma of sheeps milk and a smooth, sweet flavour with a nutty finish.
This cheese makes a great snack with fruits, grilled vegetables and cured meats.
