Produced by a dairy cooperative in the Rhône-Alpes region of France, Saint-Marcellin cheese is a bloomy delight. After breaking the thin veil of rind, Saint-Marcellin bursts forth with a sensuously unctuous cream. It is satiny smooth but complex in flavour, offering notes of mushroom and buttermilk.
As this cheese arrives it its own handsome ceramic dish, try warming Saint-Marcellin directly in the oven on low heat and then dunking your favourite piece of crusty bread in it. Heaven!
