Keens Cheddar
Cheddar-style cheeses are made all over the world, but when it comes to a True Farmhouse Cheddar there is no substitute for the real thing: cheese made on farms in the West Country of England.
One such cheese, Keens Cheddar, has survived the test of time in a fluctuating market. In production since 1898, the grass-fed cows on the Keen family farm spend most of their days living and dining on lush Somerset pastures. Their dairy produces this twenty-five kilogram clothbound wheel which we are honoured to be able to receive and open here at Jacobsons.
With a crumbly and creamy texture that has the occasional blue veining, Keen's cheddar is highly nuanced, starting with a slightly sharp bite, followed by lingering afternote of mustard and grass-fed butter. Aged for sixteen to eighteen months, Keen is an absolute classic in the cheddar world that is not to be missed!
