La Moutonniere Ricotta
Fromagerie La Moutonnière have long been pioneers in the world of Quebec farmstead sheeps cheeses. Their two-hundred ewes have free range access to naturally seeded pastures, free-flowing spring water, and are never fed with silage. On the the production side, all of their cheeses are made completely by hand, allowing for individual attention at every stage of development.
Like all true farmstead producers, La Moutonnière do not standardize their cheese production, allowing seasonality to affect the composition of the milk. The result is a wide range of delicious cheeses bursting with authentic flavours of the local Quebec terroir, like this freshly made artisan Ricotta.
Ricotta is a traditional Italian fresh cheese made with whey that has a smooth creamy texture and sweet flavour. La Moutonnière's farmstead version is softer than those typically made from cow or goat milk and just as delicious!
Enjoy stuffed in pasta, at breakfast with jam and fresh fruit or even drizzled with maple syrup!
