Appenzeller
This famous alpine-style has been produced for over seven centuries in the breathtaking hills of eastern Switzerland.
Known for its distinctive, aromatic rind each wheel of Appenzeller is washed with a secret blend of cider, white wine and spices. This distinctive brine sets Appenzeller apart from other mountain-style cheeses and its exact composition is closely guarded by each master affineur.
This younger version is aged in the famous sandstone Kaltbach caves for seven months. The firm interior is golden yellow and dotted with small eyes while flavours are gently sweet and nutty, offering a hint of alpine spice as you get closer to the rind.
An irresistible snacking cheese, Appenzeller is an excellent melter and perfect for all your fondue needs.
